At the Bushwick Veterinary Center, we are not in a rush to get your cat treated. We want to take the time to get to know them and build a relationship of trust. We understand that your cat may take a little more time to get adjusted to our new environment and the last thing we want to do is rush them. Our focus is on your cat.

As a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) we focus on creating a cat-friendly practice in order to make your cat’s experience at our veterinary center as stress-free as possible. The AAFP provides feline-focused practice guidelines for our veterinarians and staff to provide the highest standards of care for your feline family members. These guidelines are evidence-based and include opinions from panels of experts to provide the best recommendations. Within these guidelines, they cover topics about feline anesthesia to behavior and feline-friendly handling

The AAFP also created the Cat Friendly Practice Program which focuses on increasing the number of veterinary clinics and centers providing stress-free care for their feline patients and caregivers. This two-fold approach works with cat caregivers and veterinary professionals. Cat caregivers at our veterinary center have experience in providing a cat-friendly environment, from our waiting room to our exam rooms, your cat’s comfortability is our focus. In addition, they are trained to understand cat behavior and practice techniques to use in order to reduce stress during your cat’s visit. Our Veterinarians are educated on the best medical practices to provide the most optimal care for your cat and are constantly improving their feline knowledge.

Here at the Bushwick Veterinary Center, we have created a feline-friendly environment with our cat-focused waiting and exam rooms and have the appropriate equipment to diagnose and treat your feline family member. We understand how to approach and handle cats as well as provide a gentle, empathetic, and caring examination. Our hospitalization area is bar-less and provides a clear glass front, so your cat is always visible. In each kennel, we have direct lighting and provide, soft clean bedding, as well as “safe-havens” for our cat friends that need a place to hide and relax.

Unlike most veterinary clinics we are not in a rush to get your cat treated. We want to take the time to get to know them and build a relationship of trust. We understand that your cat may take a little more time to get adjusted to our new environment and the last thing we want to do is rush them. Our focus is on your cat.
